Group Travel Insurance
Group Travel documentsGroup Travel is like other forms for group insurance in the sense we have:
- True Group plans, specifically designed for the protection of the company.. for example, Chartis 'Group Plus'. This plan provides health cover for staff traveling, EVEN if the staff has a preexisting medical condition. In Chartis belief, a company is unlikely to send a staff on a trip if it knows the staff is unwell.
- An individual, or family plan, made to suit the purposes of the group. An example of this would be Axa's 'SmartTraveller'.
In general the insurer will be looking to understand the pattern of your employees' travel. Say for example, how often they travel to what locations and for how long.
If you already have a group travel plan the insurer will want to know what has been your claim experience.
If there are only a small number of people traveling, the insurer will look to provide cover on a 'named basis'.
We recommend you choose a travel plan with a particular attention to evacuation or repatriation and medical cover.. Watch not just for the cover overseas, but also the cover on return to your home country, where follow up treatment is often needed.
Given that perhaps 50% of travel claims relate to health insurance, it is prudent to see the extent to which your existing health plan may overlap the cover of a corporate travel plan.
