With the outbreak of the Cronavirus, Allianz has been one of the first insurers in Hong Kong to extend employees 'compensation to also cover staff working at home. Below is their new clause:
Work from Home Clause
It is hereby noted and agreed that this Policy is extended to indemnify the Insured against its liability in respect of any claim by the employee for Bodily Injury or death by Accident or Disease caused during the Period of Insurance within HK SAR and arising out of and in the course of his/her employment by the Insured directly and solely in the Business (defined in the Policy Schedule) and while the Employee is working from home and performing the duty of the Employee under the employment contract with the Insured.
Definition of “Home” under this extension means the Employee’s most updated residential address declared to the Insured in writing.
Provided always that:
The Employee will perform non-manual work duties only.
Notwithstanding anything contained herein to the contrary, it is agreed that the coverage provided under this extension will not be further extended by any other clauses incorporated in this Policy and the resultant coverage provided by this Policy will not be more than the basic cover of the policy.
Warranted that the working/office hours (e.g. 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.) of the Employee working from home is the same as if the Employee would have worked in the Insured’s business address, and are duly specified in writing under the employment contract between the Insured and her Employee, otherwise no cover will be granted by this extension.
Subject otherwise to the term, exclusion and condition of the Policy.
