China Taiping Insurance (HK) Company Limited (“CTPI(HK)”, previously known as The Ming An Insurance Co. (H.K.) Ltd.) was incorporated in Hong Kong in 1949.
It is a member of the China Taiping Insurance Group (HK) Company Limited ("TPG").
In 2019, the gross written premiums of CTPI(HK) was HK $3.75 billion, making CTPI(HK) the 3rd largest Hong Kong general insurer in terms of premium income.

Travel Delay Cover
Ø China TaiPing will pay the following benefits:

Baggage Delay Cash Allowance
Ø If your checked-in baggage is delayed for more than 6 hours, we will pay you a lump sum allowance without any proof of purchase.
Cancellation or Curtailment
Ø If you are forced to cancel or cut you trip short for covered reasons, this Benefit is extended to cover the expenses incurred if you purchase an airline ticket using frequent flyer or similar reward points, you will be reimbursed at HKD1 for every 10 air mileage.
Ø Protection upon issuance of Red or Black Alert or unexpected outbreak of natural disaster at the destination.
Mobility Extension
Ø Reimbursement on cost of mobility equipment and installation for household and daily purpose, as a result of accidental permanent total disablement.
Unauthorized Use of Credit Card
Ø We will reimburse you for the monetary loss due to unauthorized use of your credit card provided that it is lost whilst overseas.
Cash Allowance due to Kidnap
Ø We will pay daily cash benefit for each 24 hours
Funeral Expenses
Ø Pay for the funeral expenses including burial and cremation charges in the event of accidental death.

Fitness for Travel
Ø At the time of applying this insurance, you must be medically fit to travel and not be aware of any circumstances (including but not limited to financial, medical, political, adverse weather conditions) which could lead to cancellation, interruption or curtailment of your trip.)
CLAIMS PROCEDURE
- All first treatment for bodily injury or sickness must be attended by a registered medical practitioner outside Hong Kong SAR.
- You must report the theft or accidental loss of your luggage, personal effects, travel documents or money to the local police and relevant agency within 24 hours. A written report must be made at that time and a copy of the report obtained.
- Official documents provided by public conveyance provider are required for baggage delay or travel delay.
- You must not make any offer, promise of payment, or admit any liability without our written consent.
- You must advise us of any claim, or occurrence that may give rise to a claim, as soon as possible and within 30 days of returning home.
- All claims shall be made together with a copy of passport, visa or other travel document and satisfactory proof including reports from hospital, registered medical practitioner, police, airlines or other responsible authorities.
MAJOR EXCLUSIONS
- Riot and strike, war (whether declared or not), invasion, act of foreign enemies, civil war, revolution, civil unrest;
- Any biological, chemical and/or nuclear act of terrorism;
- Participate in any flight activities or jobs, other than as fare-paying passenger in commercial airline;
- Engaging in any kind of manual labour work whether for business or leisure;
- Professional sports or games or participation in any sport games competition;
- Self-inflicted injury, alcoholism or drug abuse;
- Pregnancy, dystocia, miscarriage or childbirth;
- Venereal disease or sexually transmissible including AIDS (Acquired immune Deficiency Syndrome) and ARC (AIDS Related Complex).
- Dental treatment unless it is resulting from Accidental Bodily Injury to sound and natural teeth;
- Pre-existing illness or bodily injury.

Safety of your belongings
- Don’t check in your valuables (including watches), photographic equipment and mobile device(s) – keep them with you (unless security regulations meant you were forced to check them in).
- Don’t leave your belongings in a motor vehicle at any time.
- Don’t walk away from or leave your belongings unattended in a public place.
- Loss or damage of any baggage or items whilst in the custody of an airline or other carrier, remember to get the “Property Irregularity Report(PIR)”
- Remember to check for your items when checking out of any accommodation or leaving an aircraft, ship, train, tram, taxi or bus.

Major Exclusions
1. Pre-existing conditions before application;
2. Any signs or symptoms within 90 days since the commencement date;
3. Any medical procedure or treatment, which is not medically necessary or not performed by a registered medical practitioner or a specialist;
4. Congenital or inherited disorder before the age of 18 ; (Except otherwise stated under the policy)
5. Venereal disease or their sequel;
6. Pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage and complications resulting therefrom or relating thereto;
7. Suicide, attempted suicide, intentionally self-inflicted Injury or voluntary exposure to an Illness whether sane or insane;
8. Drink driving any kind of vehicle while the accident resulting in injury or illness occurs;
9. Alcohol, drug abuse or any other complications arising therefrom or any drug accident;
10. Violation or attempted violation of the law or resistance to arrest or participation in any criminal act;
11. Engaging in aviation other than as a fare-paying passenger in an aircraft provided and operated by an airline or air charter company which is duly licensed for the regular transportation of fare-paying passengers;
12. Injury, death or illnesses caused by engaging in or practicing for dangerous activities as stated in the policy wording, including but not limited to bungee, paragliding, parachuting or any sporting activities in connection with an aircraft, sports in a professional capacity or where the insured person would or could earn income or remuneration from engaging in such sport etc.;
13. Any cosmetic or plastic surgery;
14. Working as or engaging in any of the types of job or occupation listed in the policy wording and caused directly or indirectly by an accident whilst carrying out such job or occupation, such as artiste or model, professional sportsman, mining, quarrying or underground worker, working at height of ten (10) feet or higher from the ground or floor level;
15. Illnesses caused by war or any act of war, rebellion or any nuclear radiation or contamination or the use of ionization or combustion of any nuclear weapons;
16. Sanction limitation and exclusion clause.
Claims Provisions
A written notice of claim (in a format stipulated by the Company) must be received by the Company from the claimant within thirty (30) days after the insured person received provisional diagnosis as to be suffering from an illness by a specialist or any event which may give rise to a claim under the policy. No claim shall be payable unless this condition is fulfilled by the claimant.

3. Additional Expenses Insurance:
• Indemnify the Insured in respect of additional expenses incurred by the interruption of business in consequence of an accident involving the facilities or property insured under Item A set out in Section 1, the maximum benefit is up to HKD500,000 and the indemnity period shall not exceed 12 months (the indemnity period refers to the time required for the revenue to rebound in full following the occurrence of the loss)
Extensions:
• Fees paid to professional accountant in preparation for the accounts for insurance claims, the maximum benefit is 10% of the
amount of the loss.
• Additional expenses arising out of restoring normal business operations as prevents or hinders the use of or access to the office has been prevented or hindered for a continuous period of more than 24 hours due to an accident notwithstanding that the insured property is not damaged.
• Additional expenses arising out of restoring normal business operations as the failure of public supply of electricity, gas or water lasts for a continuous period of more than 24 hours.
4. Public Liability Insurance:
• Protect the Insured and his employees against legal liability arising from accidents caused by the negligence of the Insured or his employees in connection with the Insured’s business, the maximum benefit is HKD5,000,000 for each accident.

General Exclusions (applicable to all insured items):
A. War, invasion, act of foreign enemy, battle (whether war be declared or not), civil war, mutiny, revolution, insurrection, military or usurped power, rebellious conspiracy, terrorism, riot, popular rising, provoked assault, or such other consequences.
B. Any judgement delivered during trials outside the jurisdiction of Hong Kong.
C. Ionizing radiations or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel or from any nuclear waste from the combustion of nuclear fuel whereas the abovementioned nuclear combustion shall include any self-sustaining process of nuclear fission.
D. Consequential loss or damage of any kind or in any form except Item3 of Part 2).
E. Properties confiscated, requisitioned, and destroyed by order of a government authority.
F. Motor liability, product liability and professional liability.
