GlobalHealth
Please Note that GlobalHealth Asia is being replaced as April International Limited
GlobalHealth Asia International Group was created with one goal in mind – to become the best personal and family medical insurance service provider in Asia.
GlobalHealth Asia was created in 1997 by a team of insurance professionals with over 25 years of experience in international healthcare management, committed to providing individuals, families and corporations based in Asia with comprehensive international health insurance solutions.
As an established health insurance specialist, GlobalHealth Asia develops, administers and supports international health insurance programmes on behalf of its principals. Principals such as: AIG, Zurich Life, Liberty International and Pioneer Life.
With headquarters in Hong Kong and operations in:
- Singapore,
- Vietnam and
- Shanghai,
plus local underwriting partners across Southeast Asia, GlobalHealth Asia provides a full range of professional health insurance services ranging from marketing, product development, distribution, underwriting, policy administration and claims adjudication.
GlobalHealth Asia’s customers today include many multinational and regional corporations, individuals, families and expatriates who have come to call Asia home.
NOTE: Globalhealth Pallas and Corporate A plans do not clearly cover surgical implants such as Pacemakers, heart valves or stents. Only what is specifically mentioned in the Table of Benefits is covered. Lieva's benefit table makes mention of 'Surgical Appliances' but does not define what these are!
We are asking Globalheatlh to clarifiy this cover more fully in the next product revamps.
Named after the Greek Godess of Wisdom, the Globalheatlh 'Pallas' product, Underwritten by Liberty International Insurance Ltd in Hong Kong, is available for individuals, families and company groups.
The goal with the design was to come up with a more comprehensive, better value product than the BUPA:
- International Swiss Medical (ISM) and
- International Health and Hospital (IHHP) Plans which BUPA had inherited when it purchased IHI danmark.
See brief overview table below with how Pallas takes on the competition

If you select and pay the additional premium for this option, then you will have the right to be treated in any of the above places.
For people who transfer from BUPA's IHI plans to Pallas (generally on less stringent underwriting terms than if they were to apply with a new application) Globalhealth insists that they take the World Wide benefit, without the exclusion for North America and the Caribbean, for the first two years.
For annual deductibles, you have a choice of Nil, US$500, US$1500 or US$5000. Mostly our clients take the USD1500 options
Renewal Guaranteed and Congenital Defects covered
Like the IHI plans, Pallas offers the guarantee of renewal for life and as well, the guarantee of cover for birth defects and congenital conditions, provided your child's birth occurs 12 months after your policy has been in force. Like the BUPA IHI plans, Pallas does not penalize you for claim history and you have the freedom to attend doctors and hospitals of your choice.

Point of difference for Pallas Group Products
In Hong Kong, at the renewal of a group Pallas policy, Globalhealth will offer renewal terms based on the claim experience of your group. Globalhealth applies this rule to all employer sponsored group plans, irrespective of the size of the group.
Mostly the market will offer to 'Community Rate' groups of up to 50 staff and to experience rate thereafter.
Pallas Group Policy Documents
Lieva is the newest plan to be launched by Globalhealth. Like Pallas Lieva is underwritten by Liberty International Insurance Ltd in Hong Kong.
Key Features:
Remarkably for a product at its price point you will find very few, if any, comparable international health policies that offer full cover for Chronic Conditions.
IF you find one, let us know!
NOTE: For the full cover benefit of cover for Chronic Conditions, you must make a full disclosure of your medical condition when you make your application
Another very interesting feature of the Lieva plan is that if offers complete flexibility of choice between different levels of
- Hospital
- Outpatient
- Dental and
- Materntiy
cover.
This means that different family members can have different levels of cover according to YOUR preference.
Hospital cover
The foundation of Lieva is the Hospital and Surgery cover which comes with three options:
- Comprehensive
- Annual Limit US$2.5 million
- Full cover for hospitalisation and outpatient surgery, cancer and chronic conditions
- Emergency evacuation and repatriation up to US$500,000 per event
- Pre-hospitalisation and Post-hospitalisation fully covered up to 90 days prior to confinement and following confinement
- Neonatal Disabilities covered up to $200,000 lifetime
- Congenital Conditions covered up to $200,000 lifetime
- Chronic conditions fully covered
- Private nursing fully covered

Outpatient cover
See the Comparisons tab for more detail on the differences between the Lieva OP1 and OP2 tables as well as the Network Only option
Be advised that even though the US$20,000 cap on network outpatient treatments sounds more than adquate, we have had clients whose health has worsened and they have faced bills just for medication of US$1,000 - US$5,000 per month.
Like Pallas, Lieva does not rate you according to your claim experience and like Pallas, you are guaranteed a lifetime of coverage, even for chronic conditions that require years of treatment.

The Globalhealth Corporate A plan is a lower cost option to the Pallas Group product in which you can specify up to three different levels of cover for different grades of staff. Medical History Disregarded (MHD) is offered to groups of 10 or more employees.

Network Claims
All Pallas and Lieva GlobalHealth members have access to a steadily expanding network of over 3,000 clinics in 26 major cities in Asia.
Your are entirely free to use or not use this netwrok, but if you do, then you eliminate the need to file claims.
If you pay first:
In instances where you prefer to pay and claim, the Globalhealth's claim procedure is simple.
- No originals are required,
- No Claim forms are required
Claims forms are NOT NEEDED if your bills and receipts are clearly itemized!
By itemized we need to be clear as to:
- Who is making the claim and who has received the treatment
- What is the diagnosis
- What are the expenses incurred (ie: Give a breakdown of the expenses)
- The fact you have paid the bill already!
NOTE: Globalhealth offers convenient reimbursement methods by:
- cheque,
- bank transfer (in most major currencies) and even
- direct credit EVEN to your credit card! (We know no other provider willing to provide this service)
If your Outpatient treatment is other than routine:
You will however need to complete a claim form where an outpatient claim involves
- surgery
- a new major illness
- complex tests or treatments (e.g. CT Scans, MRI, blood analysis)
- accidental injury
This Guaranteed will be either issued by GlobalHealth Asia or its emergency service partner AA International.
As for payment of non routine outpatient claims, Section C of the Claim Form completed by the attending doctor.
In Section C, your doctor or surgeon, working in conjunction with the hospital or clinic, will outline an estimate of the amount of the likely bill support this with documents regarding the condition, including diagnosis and provide as well such things as
- medical /admission reports
- The name, contact details and location of the hospital or clinic
- A signed Indemnity Form (if not provided at beginning of policy)
As a general rule, it will take 3-5 working days to arrange a payment guarantee in a non-emergency situation, particularly outside of Asia.
