Coverage is provided under insurance policies underwritten by:
- 4 Ever Life Insurance Company, or
- 4 Ever Life International Limited.
Restictions of cover, depending on your US state of Residence
For the states of:
- Washington
- New York and
- Maryland,
an American expat returning to the US, can retain their GeBlue cover only until the renewal date of their policy, after which they would need to apply for a local Blue Cross plan.
No inpat can be covered in these states by GeoBlue.
Covid 19 Update
- GeoBlue will cover, with no cost-share to members, medically necessary, prescribed diagnostic testing for the virus, known officially as COVID-19, consistent with U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.
- This coverage includes the cost of the COVID-19 test, physician/doctor consultation fee and associated costs related to administering the COVID-19 test.
- GeoBlue will waive prior authorizations for medically necessary, prescribed tests and covered services related to COVID-19, consistent with CDC guidelines.
To help reduce potential exposure, GeoBlue is encouraging members to utilize their telemedicine service, Global TeleMD™, which provides 24/7 confidential access to a global network of doctors around the world via telephone or secure video call.
Global TeleMD is available to their corporate and scholastic group enrolled members at no additional cost2.
For a limited time, GeoBlue has expanded access to Global TeleMD to their non-enrolled Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Traveler members. This service is available to travelers now and is expected to expire on May 31, 2020.
Anxiety, panic and stress are common emotions members may experience during an outbreak, such as COVID-19.
Enrolled members have access to telephone emotional support services provided by trained counsellors3.
Members can access these services via the telehealth button on the GeoBlue mobile app or by logging on to the member portal and visiting the “Wellness” section.
GeoBlue wellness portal provides helpful links and resources including how to cope with stress during a disease outbreak and a new webinar titled: Keep Calm and Carry on – Maintaining your composure amidst the pandemic.
Political, Security and Natural DisasterPEND Coverage through Drum Cussac
The Political, Security and Natural Disaster coverage offered through Drum Cussac does not include evacuation coverage for crises related to medical or health reasons. However, if the local political or security situation would deteriorate to the point that one of the contract triggers was met, Drum Cussac would then provide coverage (subject to the limitations of the policy).

Frequently asked questions
Q: Can you add the RX option later?
A: Unfortunately no, You can only add the RX option at the time of your renewal. On top of that, a new application will be required as this is considered an upgrade.
Q: Can you change the sum of the deductible later?
A: Again; it can only be done during a renewal. If you want to lower your deductible that would require an application as this is seen as an upgrade. However, increasing the deductible can be done without an application.
Q: Can the deductible be different plans for your Husband/ Wife?
A: No, all plan participants must have the same deductible.
Q: What happens if illnesses prevent you from traveling outside of the US and stay in the US becomes 365 days or more?
A: Only the main subscriber of the plan needs to be scheduled to live outside of the US for 3 months.
Q: Can you please provide network information in my state?
A: GeoBlue uses the Blue Care PPO/ EPO network in the US. The provider search is available at: https://provider.bcbcs.com/
Q: What happens if I stay for longer than 9 months in the US?
A: As long as you’re scheduled to live outside of the US for 3 months, you are eligible to apply and should be able to stay on the plan.

Eligible Member - For Maritime Crew Members
All U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents living abroad who are 74 or younger at the time of application are eligible to apply for coverage. All legal residents of the U.S.(citizens and foreign nationals) are eligible if they apply from the U.S. Non U.S. Citizens/Residents who are 74 or younger at the time of application are eligible if applying for coverage outside of his/her home country. The country of assignment must be other than the Eligible Member’s home country and they must be a professional crew member. Eligible Member must be scheduled to reside outside of his/her country for at least 3 months per year.
This plan has three tiers of coinsurance: 100% outside the U.S., 80% in network in the U.S., 60% out of network inside the U.S. All GeoBlue Navigator plans have an Unlimited Lifetime Maximum and a $250,000 maximum benefit for emergency medical evacuation.

- The Out of Pocket Maximum is calculated by adding the deductible and coinsurance maximum together. For a family, the maximum deductible and coinsurance are increased by a factor of 2.5, regardless of the size of the family.
- Amounts paid to satisfy a deductible are credited to all other deductibles, both inside and outside the U.S. For example, if you satisfy your Outside U.S. deductible, this amount is credited to the U.S. (In Network) and U.S. (Outside Network) deductible requirements
- An Insured Person only has to satisfy his/her Out of Pocket Maximum once a Year for all services received outside of the U.S. and in the U.S.
- Emergency room visits that do not result in inpatient admissions will be subject to a $100 penalty
