Starr traces its roots back to 1991 when Cornelius Vander Starr founded an insurance company in Shanghai, China. During the Second World War the company moved to Panama and in 1943, Starr International Inc - a privately held Starr International Company Inc. was founded as a privately held global insurance company. C.V. Starr was incorporated in 1950 and served as the parent company for various Starr insurance enterprises.

Age Limit

Enrolment is accepted from age as low as 18 years up to 60 years, and renewable up to age 65.

Occupational Classification

Individuals engaged in non-hazardous or non-manual class 1 occupations such as administrative & clerical staff, accountants, auditors, bankers, lawyers, teachers and merchants, etc.

Working Holiday Insurance

Special Features:

  1. Medical expenses up to HK$1,500,000 including in and outpatient treatments
  2. No sublimit or restriction on outpatient expenses and number of visits
  3. Prescribed medications or drugs dispensed by pharmacy are included
  4. No co-payment or deductible
  5. Scale 2 is adopted for Accidental Death and Disablement
  6. Maximum up to 365 days’ insurance coverage abroad
  7. Extend to cover leisure trips during holidays
  8. Extend to cover amateur hazardous sports such as hot air ballooning, scuba diving, skiing, etc. and impose no restriction on height or depth
  9. Cover job classification I, II, III & IV

Eligibility:

Hong Kong resident aged between 18 and 31, who participates in Working Holiday Scheme.

New Extension:

They are now extending the eligibility of Horizon Travel to individual aged between 18 and 70 who plans or is assigned to work overseas with a valid employment visa. Please contact your insurance intermediaries for more information.

  4. Scale 2 is adopted for Accidental Death and Disablement
  5. Extend to cover amateur hazardous sports, such as hot air ballooning, scuba diving, skiing, etc., no restriction on height or depth
  6. Extend to cover rental vehicle excess
  7. Parents’/guardians’ enrollment for children travel on their own is acceptable

Age Limit & Eligibility:

Single Trip Plan: No age limit
Annual Travel Plan: Enroll up to 70 years old and renewable up to 75 years old
